BRUCE LEE ANNIVERSARY

July 20th 2008, Bruce Lee’s 35th Anniversary Celebration. I traveled to Seattle to enjoy the Interviews and Q&A sessions offered by the BLF (Bruce Lee Foundation) with Bruce’s 1st Generation students.

It was refreshing to listen to stories directly from this legendary Martial Artist’s friends and family rather than from books or articles. I also enjoyed watching “Enter the Dragon”, and attending the Graveside Memorial Ceremony with Bruce students, family and friends.

Ted Wong speaking at Bruce Lee’s 35th Anniversary. Right before, he and I were sharing memories from Spain, my hometown, were he was telling me he had been and had a great experience!

He mentions Spain in this video, because of his happiness to see that not only the United States, but the whole world was represented at this Bruce Lee Celebration! People came from all around the World for this tribute to Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee would be so happy (or IS happy!)

Chi Sao is a sensitivity drill practiced in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Wing Chun. I like to perform it with my eyes closed, blind Chi Sao, to develop greater sensitivity!

PENDULUM HOOK KICK

One of my favorite Jeet Kune Do techniques! The pendulum footwork combined with the lead hook kick.

In other martial arts the hook kick is usually known as a round house kick, mostly performed with the rear leg. In JKD Bruce Lee called it a Hook Kick because it travels along a similar trajectory as the hook punch but with the leg.

In JKD this kick is most often executed with the lead weapon since it is the power side and it is closer to the target. Time to practice!
